Rushmon Homes and Countrywide Donate £1000 to Guildford Museum
21st April, 2008

As part of their policy of making a positive contribution to the communities in which they build, Rushmon Homes has just made a donation of £500 to Guildford Museum, a gift that was matched by local estate agents Gascoigne-Pees & Mann Countrywide. The Museum warmly welcomed the gift and it is likely that the money will be spent on educational services. Gill Draper, Museum Director, explains: “We get a lot of visits from local schools and I feel that it is very worthwhile to expand our facilities for young visitors. As yet we are undecided as to the exact use we will make of the money, but we are extremely grateful to Rushmon Homes, Gascoigne-Pees & Mann Countrywide.”

The cheque for £1000 was presented by Rushmon Homes. Rushmon commented: “As ever, we are delighted to be putting something back into the community. We have had great success with our Park View development in Guildford so this is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to the town.”

Guildford Museum is a treasure trove of local history and archaeology, with renowned textile collections. One of their most popular displays, especially with schools, is the Victorian schoolroom, recreated in their Salters building. The Museum also has a number of Loans Boxes, containing original artefacts, drawings and photographs, which are loaned to schools, allowing the children to handle the objects within and get a literal ‘feel’ for history. So some of the money may be spent on creating another Loan Box, or possibly a Schools Trail around the Museum.

As for the ‘Guildford connection’ at Park View, there is now only one home is left. It is plot 12, a duplex that is also the show apartment, priced at £475,000. For any reservation made by 30th April, there’s also the valuable incentive of stamp duty paid worth £14,250, plus show home furniture, curtains, fixtures and fittings. As Alan Taylor says, Park View has been a very popular development since its launch, and no wonder, when you consider the classic combination of location and specification that characterises the development. Park View is opposite Stoke Park, one of the largest open spaces in Guildford, and a wonderfully peaceful place to stroll and relax. The city centre and station are within easy reach, and the interior specification offers the very latest in contemporary elegance and comfort. One of the special features in this last remaining duplex is climate control, a system of heating and cooling which is more sophisticated than conventional air conditioning. Other highly desirable features include an individually designed fitted kitchen with solid granite worktops and all appliances; a stylish white bathroom and en-suite; light oak veneer doors; and ceramic flooring in the kitchen, bathroom and en-suites. There is also a secure underground car park with lift access straight up to the apartment and two car parking spaces are allocated.
