Should you wait for the Show Apartment? Better to snap up an apartment at Prospects in Reigate while you can
31st August, 2007

We all love a gorgeous showhome when we’re house-hunting. There’s nothing like a perfectly co-ordinated and decorated set-piece to get the imagination working and the mind into decision-making mode. But, waiting for the show apartment to be launched at Rushmon Homes’ Prospects development in Reigate could be

a big mistake. This collection of apartments is already more than 60% sold and when the show apartment is ready in September, who knows how many – or few – will be left? And will the prices rise along with demand?

To add to the dilemma, Rushmon Homes has added a tempting late summer offer to the Prospects’ package. Stamp duty paid,

a generous £750 towards legal fees and fitted carpets included throughout, all add up to a substantial cash saving, something

any buyer will welcome.

At present just five apartments remain, including one not yet released. All are two bedroom homes with most having modern open-plan kitchen/living rooms, each slightly different in layout. Three of the apartments, plots 1, 3 & 4 also have en-suite facilities. Interiors are contemporary and include everything needed to set up a new home: fully fitted, custom designed kitchens with integrated oven and hob in stainless steel finish,

plus integrated washer/dryer and fridge/freezer.

Bathrooms are in classic white with chrome fittings, there are downlighters in the hall and bathrooms, wiring for satellite TV

and an audio entry system. The apartments also have the rather unusual feature of underfloor heating, which is not only effective and easily controllable, but the absence of radiators makes for

a much neater room and greater flexibility when it comes to arranging the furniture. Prices for the remaining apartments range from £212,950 to £272,950.

With a prime position in the affluent Surrey town of Reigate, Prospects has attracted great interest from the start. It’s an indication of its popularity that most of the sales were achieved ‘off-plan’, with canny buyers, many purchasing their first home and some looking for a buy-to-let investment, knowing a good thing when they saw it. It is literally a few minutes walk

from the station, where journey times to Victoria and London Bridge are around 45 to 55 minutes respectively: an ideal Surrey-London commute. And although private parking is provided at Prospects, you could easily manage without the car a great deal of the time, as you are close to the town centre, through Reigate’s quirky pedestrianised ‘tunnel road’, which apparently was the first of its kind anywhere in the country.

Reigate was once a market town and today remains full of individual character. The High Street is an adventure for anyone who loves to shop, and includes a number of fashion boutiques and interiors shops where you can find things you won’t see elsewhere. There’s also a wide range of restaurants, which encompass everything from Pizza Express to the pricey and exclusive Tony Tobin@The Dining Room. Reigate’s gloriously

old-fashioned department store, Knights, is a local institution

and has a surprisingly comprehensive range of merchandise.

The town’s green jewels are Reigate Park, in the centre, and Gatton Park a little further to the north. A five-minute drive up steep Reigate Hill brings you to the M25 junction 8, from where you can reach Brighton, Gatwick and the whole of Surrey with ease. Reigate certainly has the advantage of good road and rail connections, but with its setting at the edge of the North Downs, also feels very open and rural.

Rushmon Homes, based in Cobham, makes a point of choosing great locations for its developments and Prospects is no exception. So it really is decision time. Only five  apartments to go, a valuable summer incentive….can anyone afford to wait?
