It's Nice to be Appreciated
3rd August, 2007

Dotty Reid, a professional relationship counsellor, purchased the show unit at Grosvenor Mews, Epsom, moving with her two sons from Leatherhead to Epsom in October 2006.  The reason for the choice of location was in part to accommodate the travel needs of her teenage son, Sandy, who was studying for ‘A’ levels at Epsom College. Her eldest son, Nick, is a second-year law student at Exeter University but spends holidays at the family home as will Sandy when he goes to Cambridge next term, but returning home will be welcome.  “We love it here” says Sandy Reid.  “It feels comfortable and homely”.

Asked what attracted her to the house, Mrs. Reid says: “There was a range of factors but a key one was the ‘wow’ kitchen that sold it to me.  It is south facing and the aspect is just delightful.  The kitchen has very much become the family room; it’s where we spend most of our time when at home and appeals because it is always light and bright, even on the greyest of days.  That, and the very desirable location, were the key attractions.”

She added: “I work full-time and so don’t have the time to manage a large garden.  This small but pretty garden is just like an extra room; it’s very usable and always looks good.  The arrangement of the rooms within the house is also a boon.  The sub-ground garage along with the utility room and large store room (in addition to a big loft) means that the ground and upper floors are uncluttered as these provide really useful storage space for returning university students who bring home half another house each vacation!  Also, we love the cosy but elegant living room which provides a calm oasis – great for watching the TV or spending quiet time away from the bustle and brightness of the large family kitchen. “

“I also liked the fact that Rushmon have thought about every detail so beautifully.  There are quantities of cupboards including a very slim cupboard to accommodate an ironing board, for example and even the downstairs cloakroom is nicely sized and detailed.  I lived in a new-build home previously which simply didn’t have the attention to detail that makes such a difference here.  The exterior detailing makes the houses very appealing too, I think.”

The Reids have found Rushmon Homes good to deal with.  “They have been very helpful,” says Mrs. Reid.  “I bought the show-home, including just a few items of furniture and some accessories, and Rushmon made the move easy.  I hope Rushmon Homes wins an Award.  They are such nice people and this development is wonderful.”
